This is the largest festival in Kumamoto Prefecture, which has a tradition of more than 1000 years. It is crowded with about 30 people every year.
The main event is the Ginko procession on 15 day. A line of approximately 20,000 people, including army soldiers, lions, children's shrines, and babies, walk through Fujisaki Hachimangu Shrine and Fujisakidai (Kumamoto Josai). Horse chase is what excites the festival. Seko and others squeeze with “Doukai, Doukai”, singing kanes and taiko drums, and decorating horses.
